Language---  After this lesson, students will be able to listen, speak and read the Chinese characters related to friends and friendship. Culture---    Students will be able to know the Chinese way of showing friendliness and build friendship with others. Young kids, even teenagers, like songs and games very much. So songs and games are very useful tools for us teachers to teach the target language. In this lesson, I will teach my students some Chinese characters and sentence patterns about friends and friendship by singing a Chinese kids’ song “找朋友”. And the key points will be reinforced through a group game.

The students are able to say turkey/brown/thank you and you are welcome in Chinese. The students are able to read the Chinese names of colors or match the word cards with them to find the correct colors of the Thanksgiving turkey worksheet. The students are able to say thank you in Chinese and students in G3-5 will design thank-you cards.

The students are able to recognize 4 more family members (elder brother, younger brother, elder sister, younger brother) in Chinese. 2. The students are able to say I love… (wo ai ba ba—I love dad) to express the love to dad and can even make sentences—I love my dad, etc. Performance task—What will students do to show what they have learned? The students will find the right word card according to teacher’s instruction. The students will use “wo ai…” by putting on the right finger family member to show their love. The students can sing the thank you song using family members.
